The TOEFL speaking section is weird. It's weird for a lot of reasons. However, one reason why it's weird is that you have to speak in a noisy room filled with people speaking at the same time.

That's weird. And difficult.

In this third lesson of the TOEFL speaking section is weird series, founder of Vocabulary Ninja and head teacher at TOEFL Speaking Teacher, Josh MacPherson, discusses what to expect the TOEFL test room to sound like and step-by-step instructions to help you prepare for that kind of environment.

It's unusual because most of us are either used to studying in a quiet room or having one-on-one conversations with friends. Not only that, but it's strange to just talk to a computer. While the TOEFL test room is usually noisy, it can also be quiet, which may be worse. You may not want to speak because you're afraid other people are listening.

Watch and learn how to prepare for any condition you may encounter on test day.
