Two (2) Major Problems with Trading Option Leaps #OptionsTrading

Option LEAPS (Long-Term Equity Anticipation Securities) are often praised as a great alternative to buying stocks, but there are some key issues to be aware of.

The first major problem is vega risk. When you buy a LEAP, which typically has an expiration over 360 days away, you’re exposed to significant vega risk. If volatility shifts against you, the value of that LEAP can drop significantly.

The second issue is the fill rates. Getting into LEAP positions may not always be smooth. The fills aren't always ideal, and you might need to work the order to get in at the right price. While this might not be as critical over a longer time frame, it’s still something to consider.
