This press event follows a closed meeting hosted by the DRC (in presence of HE Felix Tshilombo Tshisekedi, the DRC President), U.S., and WHO to engage regional Ministers on a commitment to enhance Ebola preparedness and readiness and improve the flow of information-sharing in the region.
Recognizing the gravity of the Ebola outbreak, the Ministers discuss topics including: preparedness activities; ongoing challenges and successes; opportunities for partnership to enhance preparedness; closing national and regional preparedness gaps; and other public health efforts needed to contain the current outbreak, avoid further spread, and prevent resurgence.
