Betty demonstrates how to make Fresh Apple Bread with Praline Topping. This recipe uses fresh Fuji apples and is topped with a luscious Praline Sauce.
Fresh Apple Praline Bread
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
2 cups peeled and finely chopped Fuji apples (You may use another type of cooking apple.)
½ cup chopped pecans
cooking oil spray
Praline Sauce:
½ cup butter, melted
¼ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
½ cup chopped pecans
In a large bowl, beat eggs, sour cream, brown sugar, and vanilla using an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. In a medium-sized bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add flour mixture to egg mixture. Mix together until thoroughly blended. Fold in apples and ½ cup chopped pecans. Pour mixture into a standard-sized loaf pan that has been sprayed with cooking oil spray. Bake at 350 degrees (F) for about 45 minutes, or until cake tester comes out clean. Let cool in loaf pan for 15 to 20 minutes. Turn onto cooling rack and cool completely. In a small saucepan, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and pecans. Place over medium heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute, or until sauce begins to thicken. Immediately pour over top of cooled bread. Slice and serve, as desired. This is a wonderful fall bread. I hope you love it! --Betty :)
