Say goodbye to store-bought chai and embrace the aromatic warmth of freshly brewed spices! This Thankful Dirty Chai isn't just a beverage; it's a cozy Thanksgiving hug in a mug!

Recipe (enough for 2 servings)

//Chai mixture//
3 cardamom pods
2 cloves
1 star anise
7 pepper corns
1/2 cup water
3 slices of ginger
1 small cinnamon stick
2 heaping tbsp loose leaf black tea or 3 teabags of black tea

Crush the cardamom, cloves, star anise, and peppercorns roughly in a mortar. Add to a small saucepan together with the cinnamon stick and ginger. Bring to a boil and immediately turn down the heat to a simmer for 10 minutes. Turn off heat and add the tea. Let it steep for 3 more minutes or however strong you like your tea. Discard the tea afterwards. Run the mixture through a fine mesh sieve.

//Dirty Chai// (1 serving)
1 oz freshly brewed espresso
2 oz chai
6-8 oz cup oat milk, steamed
1 tsp cane sugar
Garnish: star anise

Combine 2 oz of freshly brewed espresso together with 1/4 cup chai mixture and sugar and stir. Steam 6-8 oz of oat milk and add to the cup. Garnish with star anise for a festive finish.
