When people think about smoking they often think that you have to have a big backyard, big grill, but you don't. All you need is a wok, some aluminum foil, and a stovetop. The first thing to do is line your wok with some aluminum foil, enough so that it has a lip two to three inches over the side of the wok. These are really finely ground wood chips. You can get them at hardware stores or at kitchen supply stores. Take another piece of foil and make it into a small circle that'll cover the wood chips. Next thing you're going to do is take a round cooling rack. Place it in. Place whatever you're smoking on top of it and then after that you're going to cover it. Tent it so that there's enough space for the air to circulate above and around whatever you're smoking and crimp the edges so that no smoke gets out and then place it on the stovetop. You're going to keep it at high heat until you start to see some smoke. At that point you're going to lower the heat to about medium and let it smoke. When it's done, make sure you go outside before you take the lid off because it's really smoky in there.
