German Ambassador Christoph Heusgen, flanked by the UK’s and France’s representatives said, “France, Germany, and the United Kingdom stress the commitment to the full implementation of Security Council resolution 2231 and the preservation of the JCPOA, which we believe contributes to reducing tensions in the region, as well as global nuclear non-proliferation.”
He said it was “in everyone’s interest to show restraint and avoid any actions that would undermine this vital pillar of the non-proliferation regime and of our collective security.”
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear deal was reached by Iran and the P5+1 (China France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States) on 14 July 2015, and was endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2231.
