Rylan Gets Her DRiVING Learner's Permit?| Behind the Braids Ep. 129

Can you believe Rylan is old enough to get her LEARNER'S PERMIT? This week Shaun takes Rylan to San Antonio to pick up her permit. Bailey and Asa go for a horseback ride, Kamri joins the family for a quick trip to Florida, and Daxton runs his first cross country track meet. What was the funniest part of this video for you???

#Rylan finished her #DriversEd course a few months back, but due to the pandemic, most DMV's (Department of Motor Vehicles) near us are scheduled out for 3-4 months. So I started moving in concentric circles away from Dallas until I could find one that could fit her in soon. The closest I could find for her was in San Antonio, 5 hours away! So Shaun and Rylan took a quick overnight trip to San Antonio to pick up her Learner's Permit, and spend the night near the Riverwalk. They had a great time! (A driver's permit is different than a #driverslicense, in that it only allows you to drive in a car with an adult insured for that car.)

Daxton has waned to run track, since he is so fast, and we've been training him for several months now. Track works well for children like Daxton because he can be hyper focused even through a little pain or being tired. Last Tuesday was his first meet, and we're not sure he entirely knew what to do. We sent him to school with his complete uniform, but when we got to the race he was wearing a t-shirt and his sweat pants! Unable to talk to him, we assumed he had somehow misplaced his school-issued race shorts and tank top! So we found him running a 2-mile race with hot, heavy clothes! Turns out, he had his uniform on underneath THE WHOLE TIME! (He didn't want to take off his sweats, because he was afraid people would see right up the bottoms!????) With autism, things have to make perfect sense to Daxton, so having lived with so many girls his whole life... running half clothed didn't make sense to him!

Asa surprised Bailey by taking her horseback riding, an activity that she absolutely LOVES! Asa didn't tell her beforehand what they were doing, so Bailey wasn't prepared with her helmet and appropriate clothes! (BOYS! ????????) She only rode for a short while, and was being very careful.

Kamri joined us for a quick Fall trip to Florida. Watch for the next Behind the Braids vlog to see what we did!
