Today I'll unleash your inner henna artist and have you drawing henna designs all over your friends and anyone else who will sit still.Once you've mixed your henna paste, what I like to do is strain the henna paste. This gets rid of any lumps that may have formed, just like in gravy when you have - when you mix a powder with a liquid, there are lumps, and they will clog your tool when your henna-ing. So I like to strain it, and it also gives you a really wonderfully silky paste that's really great to work with.So straining is very simple. You just need a plastic bag, a glass, and a stocking. So the kind of stocking you need is called the trouser sock. These are a little bit thicker than your average knee-high and you can see they're pretty opaque. These work better because the fibers don't stretch out and let the lumps through. So take your plastic bag and put it over a glass, and the glass is just to hold it up. And put it so that the corner of the bag is down in the cup. And then take your stocking and stretch it over the cup like so. And again, you want the toe of the sock down in the corner of the bag. And then you just take your paste and scrape the paste down into the toe of the sock. Get it all in there. And then take everything off of the cup, and then what you want to do is basically pull the stocking out holding this nice and tight right here and this will keep all of the henna in the bag and all of the lumps will come out in the stocking. So it should be pretty easy. You just pull it like that. There you go! So all of your paste is here in the bag and all of the icky lumps are in your stocking. And this you can just wash out and reuse. It will stain your stocking so don't use something that you want to wear out. And then when you have this baggie of paste, you can just cut the little tip off and use that to fill your cone or your bottle, and you're ready to henna. So that's how to strain your paste. "
