“Sometimes I ask why they had to take the one person I loved most.” Willinton Leyder Ortiz, 15, is one of thousands of children in Colombia whose lives have been turned upside down because of war. When he was 10, armed men came to his village, took his mother away and killed her. His father had been killed the year before and his grandmother disappeared a few years earlier. The recent ceasefire and disarmament agreement between the government and the FARC to end the conflict will hopefully help bring a safer and brighter future for children like Willinton.
