How one train ride completely devastated this Honduran teen | UNICEF

"The moment I woke up, I knew that everything was over." That is how Alexis describes the fateful train ride he took as a 16-year-old headed to the United States. The dangerous journey cost him his leg and his dream of making it out of Honduras. Now also 16, his sister plans to make the same risky trek up North. They both hope to overcome poverty and get an education abroad.
Every month, thousands of children from Central America risk being kidnapped, trafficked, raped, or killed as they make their way to the United States to seek refuge from brutal gangs and stifling poverty. Find out more:
