The best way to chill beer down, if you have a little bit of time, is to put the beer in first and then the ice over it and the ice will melt over the beer and get it very cold in about twenty minutes. If you don't have that much time, fill the container about halfway with water. This will create and ice bath for the beer and it will be colder faster, in about ten minutes. If you're really in a hurry, add salt to that mixture and that really gets it cold fast, usually about three to five minutes.
