I wanted to give you everything I didn't get as a child I'm clearly the worst mother ever.
I didn't say that at all and what is giving me everything you didn't get even mean ? You never wanted for anything when Christmas came around you had piles of toys under the tree and vacations don't even get me started okay.

So you mean material possessions for you giving me everything but things and trips. Okay now somehow you're going to complain about this too. I'm not complaining at all I'm really grateful for all the things that you did. I did of most of the things that I wanted and I know that that was how you showed love.

But what I really wanted as a kid and even now is a parent who can regulate their emotions. What new age nonsense is that? See when I tell you things I almost always know you're going to go into a defensive mode it can't feel good . To always go there because you always take things super personally and then I feel judged.

You probably don't know this but I still come to you hoping that I can open up and that you'll be there for me and support me. But I usually end up feeling like I wish I never started the conversation I just couldn't imagine how much our relationship would improve.

If I could just talk to you and you could hold back every thought and judgment and just listen to me I could feel safe and connected to you that's what a parent who can regulate their emotions. Is able to do they're able to not make everything about them and to not take things so personally I don't need material things from you to be honest I just want a good relationship with you I want to be able to have a mom who relaxes my nervous system instead of putting me in the fight or flight.
