Welcoming Yoga Day, Wai Lana invites you to take one of her 5 yoga challenges at http://www.wailana.com/yogaday
I’m Wai Lana. As you may know, the United Nations has decided to honor yoga by establishing an International Yoga Day on June 21st. I’m so glad because this will allow people all around the world to have a greater awareness of the benefits of yoga.
Yoga is a very practical process that helps improve the quality of our lives in many ways. For example, yoga is a wonderful way to relieve stress. There is so much stress nowadays—from our jobs, our relationships, health issues, or just being overwhelmed in general.
Our bodies are equipped to handle sudden stress. But being under constant stress can have serious effects on our health. Stress can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, liver and digestive disorders, thyroid problems, some cancers, obesity, and weakened immunity. Chronic stress can also be the cause of depression and other mental disorders. This is why it’s so important to learn how to relieve stress and relax.
This is where yoga can really work wonders. Yoga postures release tension from tight muscles. This enables blocked energy to again flow freely throughout the body. This energizes the internal organs and makes them less prone to disease. Yoga breathing helps calm both body and mind, gently melting stress away. Practicing yoga postures and yoga breathing prepare you to completely let go when you lie down for yoga relaxation. Such yoga relaxation gives your body a much-needed rest from the stress of everyday life. It is the mini-vacation your body needs to recover, heal, and re-energize. And by the practice of Yoga Sound Meditation, one can achieve deep inner peace and happiness.
So it is my hope that more and more people everywhere will take up the practice of yoga.
So please, feel welcome to visit my website, http://www.wailana.com , to take some of our Yoga Challenges and win a prize. This will help you get into the habit of practicing some form of yoga every day. Thank you! -Wai lana
