TRANSCRIPT
At my household we eat a lot of ketchup and it really bothered me because of all the sugar, especially high fructose corn syrup that's in commercial ketchup. So I created my own recipe. And what I do to replace a lot of the sugar is a lot of spices. Start with tomatoes, onions, mustard, light brown sugar, white vinegar, allspice, cloves, dried mustard, salt, pepper, celery seed, and garlic powder. Puree it in your blender. Put them in the soup pot. Put it over a medium heat. When it comes to a boil then you want to turn it down to a simmer and let it simmer for about an hour. What you're going to find with this homemade ketchup is a little bit difference in the consistency. It's going to be a little bit thicker. It's going to be a little bit darker, but what I've found is that I actually cannot go back to the commercial ketchups. They just seem to be absolutely too sugary for my taste.
