Avoidant partners are easily put into shut down mode. Even “can we talk” can trigger their fight or flight response.

This is why pseudo-positivity is used. It’s a way to say “focus on the good” or “can’t you just be happy?” This is a way to deflect deeper issues and to stay in denial— a hallmark trait of people with avoidant attachment.
